What’s the deal with cropping images?
Cropping makes perfect but cropping to early can cause serious issues.
At Dreamlife we usually give you a full image and a suggested crop version
Instead of cropping your images at the beginning, we like to show you a full-size frame for your image as well as our suggested crop. Through the process, we will work on both the full size and suggested crop, that way at the end you have a larger image to work with in case you need it, but have also crafted a beautiful, perfectly framed image.
Can you spot the difference?
Sometimes it takes a bit of work to perfect a frame. Don’t let your artist over crop the image too early and you will end up with a much fuller and well-framed image that can always be cropped later.

In this case below, you can see that technically you can remove the tree on the right side, but why not include it and keep the option to crop into the image available for later? Bring a little life to the image with the tree and see where it goes.
Once you crop, it’s not easy to go back
When you are working on a project and tell your artist to crop the image frame, we will naturally stop working on anything outside of that frame. Therefore, if you want to go back and enlarge the frame later, you create a new mini-project as the area that was not articulated (outside of the frame), needs to be reviewed and most likely will trigger additional proofs and potentially additional costs.
