Be clear when you are mixing design changes with ordinary expected feedback

Renderings are fixed cost projects, so any design changes can result in additional fees. To minimize these fees, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can suggest ways to stay on track and on budget.

The Sooner the Better

The basic rule is the earlier the better in terms of avoiding extra fees.

Expected Changes versus Scope (Design) Changes

So how do we distinguish regular changes expected in the production process versus deign changes?  It depends at what stage of the project you are in.

A few changes that are more time consuming than you might think

These are just a few of the changes that clients are surprised when we tell them the impact to the overall workflow and sometimes design change fees associated. Renderings are an extremely detailed technical work and recreating/simulating reality is harder than it looks.

Flagging design changes avoids finger pointing and builds relationship

It’s tempting to slip in obvious design changes and to try to get them included in the ordinary feedback when clearly they can create additional work and potential for derailing the project. We highly recommend identifying the specific requests that are clearly a design change and asking for best ways to minimize the cost if that is a concern.

Pro-Tip Bottom Line

We are here to help and we have boundaries about what is included and what is not included to make this kind of service pricing more affordable. There are clearly types of feedback and change requests that can be in addition to the original agreement and please understand that we will have to bill accordingly.
